expert systems designer
public holiday here, so no computer time to progress the indiewebification, but refined my thinking on what my career focus is.
i was raised on software; and some of my earliest technical feats include: jailbreaking my school laptop mdm, torrenting photoshop cs4, and setting up LAN party nights. Later, at uni, i was a computer repair guy - and got to do lots of hardware/software diagnostics. still probably my most satisfying job.
pair all that ui practise, with an opinion, and eagerness to build things, and it’s no wonder why product design was a fit.
in my now 10 year career, i’ve always leant towards more technical spaces: network observability platform > supply chain telemetry > automation orchestration platform. i also have a lot of internal service design - where the layers behind a ui i.e people, processes, protocol, and infrastructure are the design elements.
which made me wonder, what kind of designer am i?
